Xi'an
Rise and shine -- when ever we leave, blue skies appear.
A hearty breakfast at McDonald's.
Limited selection indeed. We got a sausage, egg, and cheese on a bun, plus, a hash brown, plus an orange juice. 17 RMB.
We delayed our flight back to Beijing for the soul purpose of biking around the city walls of Xi'an -- 13.7 km (8.5 miles). So worth it, specially since we were the first ones, other than the workers, up there...promptly at 8:00 AM.
Kinda ominous looking, eh?
Structure on the wall.
The first and only picture of the tandem bike.
Many failed attempts at balancing and my mom's refusal to persevere resulted in a sad farewell.
The only picture of me on the wall.
Mom and her umbrella.
The path along the wall -- so gloriously wide.
Mom on a bike.
Lunch at Jia San Dumpling
The newer location one street away from the original one on the Muslim Food Street.
Sour plum juice.
Lamb soup dumplings -- 8 RMB. We also got an order of the Beef dumplings.
What it looks like on the inside.
Hefty bowl of oxtail soup -- only 30 RMB!
Ba bao (eight treasure) congee -- only 3 RMB!
My mom and i agree that this location may have been a bit better than the original one, just based on the beef dumplings. but both were SO GOOD. I kind of controlled myself this time around though. Last time, I ate like there was no tomorrow and proceeded to have stomach pains for a solid hour. Not. Fun.
Leaving Xi'an
This is how they fill their gas tanks!

Back in Beijing
Dinner at Quan Ju De Roast Duck Restaurant
The Skin -- this stuff actually RAINS juice (aka fat)
Glorious Beijing Roast Duck.
I have video footage of this. YOM!
My parents and I had a whole duck two years ago and it was 120 RMB for the set.
This time it was 228 RMB for the set (wrap, sauce, scallions).
I'm skeptical that that's all the meat from a whole duck...boo.
But it turned out to be just enough to push me over the edge to pukey full.
AHHH IT WAS SO GOOD.
