Donations

Chinese blog CNReview.com is constantly updating a list of ways people can donate to aid in disaster relief. Check it out here.

While walking around Chongqing's town center yesterday, we saw a group of pink-uniformed nurses and white-jacketed doctors neatly arranged on the steps outside a hospital. They were all clapping, a news camera was filming, and festive music was playing. A woman in front was holding a big red box and pedestrians were coming up and making various donations, each donation resulting in riotous clapping and cheering from the hospital staff.

At some point, however, the police came and they had to turn off the music and soon enough a crowd enclosed the representatives from the hospital and the police. We're not sure if they were collecting money illegally -- they had large banners and everything! -- but I'm thinking slash hoping that the money will probably go to earthquake relief anyway.

Party Poopers.
